New Blog and Domain Launch in 2011

2011 brings a new year and a new domain for My Bike to Work. The name has changed slightly from My Bike to Work -> Bike to My Work (thanks to all the "bike/work themed" parked domains). I am also changing the focus of the site a bit from a blog to more of a resource site for bike commuters. Still working on the layout and content for Bike to My Work and will have an update in a week or two with the final version. Looking forward to a new site and new possibilities this year.

Level 15

Making great progress on my off season cross training. Reached level 13 on the stationery bike and have mixed in periods of level 15. My leg muscles feel a bit soar this week, but I have noticed improvements in stamina just by altering my workout on the stationery bike. Working on a new set of cross training that includes stamina rides of 45 minutes or more. Should be interesting.

New Bike Trails in Cleveand?

While doing a little research on local plans to improve Cleveland bike ways, I found this interesting blog post from a few month back. It looks like Cleveland has a good initiative in 2010 to build out the inner green necklace. This would be an excellent addition to the metro parks loop. I always look forward to a long ride and would enjoy heading downtown for the day. Perhaps a ride to Progressive field to watch the Indians? No parking $, clean air and exercise. What could be better. Ok, I know it's January but I'm getting excited for baseball.

Long Wait

It feels like I have been waiting years to get back on my bike. It's middle of the winter here in Cleveland, Ohio which means my bike has been on the garage rack for the past eight weeks. Can't wait for the weather to warm up in late February or March for that first ride. Planning lots of cool local trips and places to peddle in the spring.

Biking in the Winter

Due to the winter weather, I have not been able to bike at all since October. The early winter we are experiencing in northeast Ohio is not cool. Now that it is officially winter, I have been reduced to using my elliptical machine and running around the block when it gets above 30 degrees. I guess that I am not a hard core cyclist. Waiting patiently for a rare 50 degree day in February to bust out the wheels for a spin!

Fastest Time So Far... and I'm Bushed!

Just finished my best commuting time of about 52 minutes! (while biking into a south east wind) I rode over the weekend on the valley trail that runs through Sagamore Hills to Valley View. I'm estimating this is about a 25 mile round trip ride from home. It seems to have helped my leg strength for longer endurance.

I credit much of the motivation to watching the Olympics over the past two weeks. It's inspiring to see people giving it there all for the USA.

Google Maps of Bike Routes

Found a very cool site called Bikely that lets you search and post bike routes from all over the world. Enjoy! I've been looking for a site like this one for a while.
